Art to the rescue..

It was just one of those days; days when you are just sitting and browsing things on your phone, days when you’re hungry but too lazy to get up and do something about it, days when you know that you are free and so can use your time to do something that you love doing instead of simply whiling away time. It started off just as one of those days.

I had been feeling a bit off from the past few days, mostly because I wasn’t really doing much either for myself or at my workplace. My friends who I stayed with were laid back people, waking up at 11 and sleeping at 4am, sitting and chatting and doing just about anything that doesn’t have to make them step out of their homes . I was hoping to do something over the weekend but now that the weekend had arrived, I was at a loss about what to do.

So it was one of those days. I woke up at 6:30 , started browsing my phone. Facebook, then twitter, then whatsapp , and so on, when I finally came to the discover section of instagram. My feed was filled with posts of Jagannath Puri Rath yatra, which is one of the biggest processions in the eastern part of India, bringing lakhs of people to Puri, Odisha on that particular day.

Here are some pictures of the event ..

As I started looking at the beautiful pictures of the procession that people were posting, I started feeling sad; sad that I didn’t attend any such yatras in the 5 years I was in Odisha and sad coz I knew I was about to waste my day.

Luckily, I started getting pissed at myself and decided to do something good with my time.

I looked for my old drawing pad, searched for some colors , couldn’t find any so settled for a black pen, and then made this…

I could make out that I’m really rusty ; that my hands are not moving as well as they once used to. But at the end of the day , I was happy I could give myself atleast some amount of time to do the things I love doing instead of postponing it for a future date.

Guess it wasn’t one of those days after all, once I’d made the choice to do something about it.
